The "Ph.D. Program in Drug Discovery and Development Industry" is exceptional in Taiwan, composed of academic education and industrial practice. We know that Ph.D. program training sometimes faces an enormous gap between academics and industry, especially biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields. By integrating practice-oriented research and industrial internship, this program can strengthen industrial R&D competencies and fill the gap for our Ph.D. students.

We designed a four-year doctoral training program, which implements the basic and applied knowledge of drug discovery and development. Students will spend the first 2 years studying the advanced courses on academia-industry integration, including primary and advanced knowledge of medicine and pharmacy, concepts of drug discovery and development, research strategies of pharmacology and toxicology, disease animal models, clinical trial design, and investigation of new drug (IND) application. In the following 2 years, students will go to the industry, such as biotech companies, work as interns with their industrial advisors, and complete their Ph.D. thesis. Through our integrating approach, we believe this program will promote students to become talents as industry needs.
