Abstract
Purpose: The aim of the present in vitro study was to compare the fracture resistance and adhesion of the implant-supported Y-TZP-based single-tooth copings with two different veneering techniques, and evaluate the failure modes after debonding.
Methods: A bone level implant (φ3.5 mm, Hung Chun Bio-S Co., Ltd, Kaohsiung, Taiwan) embedded in the mandibular right first molar was selected to receive an all-ceramic Y-TZP-based restoration. All specimens were fabricated by one trained dental technician according to each manufacturer instructions to avoid any operator influence. Three porcelain systems for Y-TZP restorations, CAD-on technology (named as Group CAD), Rapid Layer Technology (named as Group RL) and Conventional hand-layered veneered technique (named as Group CH) were tested.
Results: The usage of ligth cure or can-on techniques did not show significant diffenences in the fracture resistance of Zr-based single crowns. The fracture patterns considering partial or total fracture could be observed.
